They OK? I needed a sound card for 64bit XP and creative released some beta 64bit drivers for the SB Live, Audigy and Extigy series. And seeing as how that made it the only friggin sound cards available I broke an old promise to myself to never buy another Sound Blaster and grabbed a audigy on eBay for 20 bucks.

Any bad problems with these rascals? It seems to work ok so for 20 bucks I didn't get hosed to bad I figure. I mean in its day it was supposedf to be a nice card wasn't it? I know they have neater ones now but...

I can't speak for 64bit but I've been using mine now for the last year and haven't had one problem and am very happy with it thus far.

I know, using it in a 64bit system may be another story.

I'm blasting some mp3's through my Carver home stereo system and 4 foot tall Klipsch speakers and so far its been very cool for 20 bucks. I need to move the rabbits cage out of this room as I'm driving him nuts right now though. I don't think he likes "white stripes" from the expression on his face anyway.

    ;D

Glad it's working well so far.

I also record live music with my Audigy and although it's not made for that, it passes the test. The card performs well enough for me to postpone buying a proper card for recording which is about $300 over the last 6 months or so.

I know some people say SB has been crap for them but I've used SB16, Live and the Audigy in more than a half dozen configurations and they've been great.

Have you looked into used m-audio cards? Some of the ebay prices on those are just killer. If I wasn't scarfing in particular for 64bit OS support thats probbaly the route I would of gone.

But honestly.... the audigy is in the msi-k8 dual opteron and sound wise it's got to be about the best 20 bucks I ever spent so far.

    Thanks

I grabbed my old one back from my folks computer last weekend. The crappy AC97 audio on my A64 board is not up to scratch. Works like a charmer.

The audigy series are tidy cards. I only gave it to my folks as I had Soundstorm on my NF7-S :) For $20.. that's a steal. A nice purchase!

Yeah I was looking at SB Live actually. Just wanted some sound. They wre like 35 to 45 bucks localy and 7 bucks on eBay for the OEM versions.

Then I stumbled on this deal for the audigy as I was poking around looking for one of the usb audigy versions. Don't know why it only fetched 20 bucks but I'm happy so far. Another weird ebay super saver deal.

The key is using one of the snipe tools as you can watch 5 of something like this card all go off in a few hours time and five sell for 60 bucks a pop and one drops through the cracks for 20 bucks for some reason and obviously.... (grin) you want the 20 buck one right? I've seen a couple outrageous deals go down lately in the U.K. shorty and I have almost shouted to you that I might have something shipped your way a couple times now. So if unknown boxs show up on your doorstep.... (LOL)

Dude, the last pressie I got was shipped as "old computer parts" valued @ $20 ;D addressed from Tex :D

Il keep an eye out for any more Texan inbound, suspicious, dusty parcels containing goodies :D Although, Im not sure a 12u 19" rack is gonna get through UK customs as "grandma's old cupboard" [grin]

The problem with UK Ebay is the lack of variety. Honestly, I see some awesome deals on US Ebay but the tax on anything bought from the US is just crippling.. unless it's a superdeal. It's a real downer.

Have you got taxed on the other crap you got from the US? I figure if we space it out and don't put to many suspicious packages into one short time span or to much crammed into one box we should do OK. (grin)

I wonder if I'm going to get taxed on crap I have you send me? Never had that happen but its not like I'm a very experianced international shipper either. Its pretty sad when I can ship stuff as cheap and actually have it arrive faster to friggin U.K. then Canada though.

The key is shipping you stuff thats lightweight. Boards are good. cases and PSU's are bad.....

Actually, I have no clue if you guys get taxed on it when it arrives to you. Im not 100% sure but I don't _think_ you do.

Yeah, I bought a mobo from a member a year ago or so and I got creamed on import tax. Board was $90 and I paid nearly $40 in tax when it arrived.

Sending small inconspicious parcels marked as gifts.. in a crumpled box inside a no-name box makes it look more "busted up old computer crap". Definitely going to have to do that approach. Take last time, it was packaged so well but it didn't scream "Hey, Im x hundred dollars worth of kit". Smooth in, no stoppage.

Canada?! I've sent TWO padded envelopes there and neither ever made it to their destination. I have no clue whatever happened to them but it's damn annoying. :shakehead
