Is the Only Diffrent is with the SATA ?

edited March 2004 in Hardware
Hello there, i found this forum while googling on my new MB. and found some kewl tips in here, but now i got a question and i hope some1 here can help
me out.

i just ordered an NF7-S MB, after 30min or so, the provider called me and said he is out of NF7-S and i can wait 2 weeks for it, OR he can give me the
NF7-SL, he promised me that the ONLY different between the two is the Serriel/SATA adapter that aint coming with the SL, is he right ? i mean, is it the Exact Motherboard without the adapter ? i need to give him an answer back in the next 1-2 hours, so i would appreciate a quick reply

Thank you for your time.

Link. In japanese but but the "L" means "Lite" and it's a version without Sata. You could always the buy the board at another site/store.

Its the SATA controller and adapter that you don't get it would appear.

If you plan on keeping this board around for over a year and upgrading your system you definitely want the SATA controller. The adapter merely allows you to use old PATA devices on the new controller possibly increase possibly decreasing performance.

The two above links disagree on the presence of the SATA controller.

If he promises the only difference is the adapter then assuming he's giving you a discount (the adapter is worth at least $10-15 US) then it should be a safe bet. Make sure you get him to say (in writing prefarably say an email) that there is an SATA controller on board because you don't want to get stuck with a board without that. As long as it has the controller you should be ok.
