SM17 had some downtime, now up and running faster than ever

Hi guys,

A little goof while trying to manually fix the MBR of SM-17's hd left it unable to boot probably for quite a while. I tossed a new hd in and slapped in a new kernel and voila 20% speed increase (because SSE is actually working now instead of just claiming it was). There was about 8 hours of downtime but she should make that up in 2 days easily. Just waiting on frame times for the first 858 frame. (Previous was 48 / frame, expecting 39-40 ish / frame).

The HD in there currently is my own Samsung 1.2 GB. There's nothing physically wrong with the old HD other than needing a good LLF. I'll fix it on another machine and clone and swap the drives at a later date (like when exams are over). Anyways I must get the the optometrist, I broke my glasses and am currently crouched about 10cm from my screen (Good think its an LCD, wouldn't want to lose my hair from the radiation ;) ).

Cheers,

Derek

w00t 33 minutes per frame! daaamn!. Hmm if i can just boost a few more MHz out of her she might break 500 / week. Definitely a noticable improvement (although the 858's and 859's are definitely higher PPW units than other gromacs from my experience).

The total max potential output of my farm is now nearing 5000 PPW including SM17. Now if I could only get my brothers to use their computers less .... ;).
