For some reason I can't access webpages that use interactive flash players. The browser window just dissapears (goes *pop*) when I try. I intalled a fresh copy of Marcromedia Flash Player, but to no avail. BTW, I have WinXP Pro, no upgrades.

Examples of sites I cant get to:
www.party931.com
any shockwave games (www.shockwave.com -> games -> any game)

Any suggestions?

Are you running any pop-up blockers, or Internet Security Suites?

Look for a seperate shockwave plugin, also, or a plugin that has combined support. Some Flash has shockwave support, some does not. But the updates to IE are a needed thing, by default IE blocks more popups and ads with the updates for it. Also, for some flash and shockwave stuff, you might find having Sun Java present will help, sites that use flash can also use Java.

In IE, there is typically a plugin directory, and for some plugins you have to move the plugin into the plugins directory if you do not want the installer to install features you do not want. Ditto for Mozilla and Opera. Look in the Internet Options part of IE, see if your version has a plugin options dialog, see what is listed (might just be, the plugin is in the wrong place and IE does nto know it is there, or might be you did not restart the computer after installing the plugin (Flash installer was written for multiple versions of Windows, the process it uses is to write DYN_DATA keys which do not get finalized until after a restart, though with soem flash you can just install plugin with IE NOT running and then start IE again and have IE discover its new plugins)).

Also, one reason to Windowsupdate, is you get a newer Wise Installer than an older Office Suite will stick on box, and the new installer also UNinstalls better and registers things with XP better swithout restarting. This includes Flash. BUT, a suite without the latest Flash support might go pop with latest flash plugin, I use Flash 6.0 plugin for most Flash stuff, in Opera AND in IE. Many sites use Flash 6.0 and not Flash MX yet....
