Spammers get ready for April Fool's Day

edited March 2004 in Science & Tech
As if the flow of spam isn't problematic enough, here comes another wave. Barracuda Networks, a maker of spam firewalls, says email users should prepare for a spike in spam activity leading up to April Fool's Day.

[blockquote]Spammers increasingly have used holidays such as Christmas or Valentine's Day to take advantage of consumers looking to get good deals on holiday-related purchases. [/blockquote]

Somehow I don't see April Fools Day as a bigtime consumer event. I mean, how many whoopie cushions can you buy?

I have noticed an increase lately. About a month ago I was getting maybe 1 or 2 messages every couple of days, now it gets as bad as 10 or 15 a day, and I know I haven't changed anything or done anything different.
If only more ISP's would use the SBL lists that are available.

Adelphia must do a good job. I don't use any spam blockers and in the nearly two years I have been with them I have received exactly four spam emails. One financial offer from a Nigerian Prince (!) and three emails in chinese from a plumbing supply company.

My dad is with Comcast and gets about 15-20 a day. :shakehead
