Intel P4 3.2 HT, been working like a charm. 1 x GUI, 1 x Console.

All of a sudden the console decides to get a mind of its own and goes so far and does not want to play anymore. :-/

3rd time in a row it almost finishes and errors out. :eek3:

Any thoughts?????

Sally

Ok not to sure what to do here. Hubby :respect: DragonV8 has just handed me a whole heap of spec's for my computer. I'll list them as he has given them to me:
    1. Mobo: Gigabyte GA-8IPE1000 Pro 2
    2. Proc : Intel P4 3.2 HT
    3. RAM : 4 x 512 mb PC3200
    4. Sound: Audigy 2
    5. Video: ATI RADEON 9200SE 128mb
    6. HD: 2 x 120gb Seagate SATA 150
    7. Fans: 5 x 80mm
    8. 1 x Floppy
    9. 1 x CD Burner
    10. 1 x DVD Burner

I do not believe I am overclocking or even at this stage do I even know how to over clock????? Hint Hint.........LOL!!!!!

To answer "Primes" question re spy ware. I have already got Spy bot Search and destroy and run this regularly (at least twice a day) Which does not reflect any problem areas. Maybe I haven't got this set up right, but it has worked favourably in the past. I used to use Spyblaster in conjuction with SB Search and Destroy which was version 2 but it now appears to have migrated to V3 for which you have to pay for. Haven't decided on this up date yet

    Hope this info helps

    Regards

thanks sally. unfortunatley there is an ongoing thread at the community forums in the beta section pertaining to this ...it seems that someone else has reported the same situation however i do think you may be getting credits for the completed portion of the project before you receive a new one.
on a different note ...are you folding 2 seperate instances of the console or are you using the gui and the console versions? Sorry but my memory is failing me these days. lol

    edit:\ here's a snip from that thread I mentioned ...

    "SupaFolder
    Post subject: SSE2 and HT

Thought I would just share some of my observations over the last few weeks
This is dealing with Intel P4 procs with HyperThreading and SSE2
I have noticed that of all the SSE2 optimised Gromacs that I have FAILED to complete (Killed) due to "Lincs" errors ....
TO explain further. I have two clients installed as a SERVICE in WinXP. Which I call "FAH1" and "FAH2" ...."

Csimon, to answer your question. I am running a Gui (which I may add is working fine) and a console. The console is the one I am having a spot of trouble with. Yes I was informed very early in the piece that I could only run one GUI and one Console or two consoles. Things have been moving along quite nicely until the last couple or three of the consoles erroring out. They almost get to complete stage, like 88-89 steps out of 100 then error out. This has been quite frustrating. I haven't done anything different with my machine since she has been up and running. Brilliantly I may add. And turning over large quantities of WU's.

I am currently looking into the suggestion from "Primesuspect" in regards to spy ware. etc., Though I stay pretty well on top of this also. At least twice a day I run SB Search and Detroy. Which doesn't seem to find any problems.

Any further advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Hugs & Best Wishes

I installed Ad-aware recently because I went through a long spell where Spybot S&D never seemed to find anything. This is an indication that something isn't working right; if you browse the web at all it's a virtually certainty you'll pick something up. Now I use both. I just ran Spybot (which mysteriously seemed to become effective again after I installed Ad-aware. Could there be spyware which has found a way to render Spybot useless?) and it found about twenty stinkers. I immediately followed it up with Ad-aware and found a dozen more. Now I'm a belt and suspenders guy.

Make sure you update the reference files regularly, too.

    Sally, shall I say memtest?
I know that it is funny that it is always the console that falkes out.
I don't have the link handy (I am mobile this week). But don't worry, Prime will supply it. You download the prog, uncompact it and write it to a floppy or cd. You then boot off of the disc and run the test.
