Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates told attendees of the Gartner IT Expo on Monday that Microsoft will release an alpha test release of Longhorn later this year.

    an alpha now, but the final isn't for two or three years? doesn't make sense. call it what it is, a nightly build

    I report what I read. It's the next big upgrade to the Windows platform as a whole. It deserves coverage.
