Testdrive Windows Update V5 Beta

Enable autmatic updates and I bet it disspaears. You don't have to keep it on but just enable it and go get your updates. Don't know if its a new "feature" or classified as a bug... But... I had 3 computers here getting teh same error and it fixed all 3.

And this is not something open to all users. Its open to the registered Windows beta users that they have INVITED to help beta the v5 update. When you click the link they verify it. Or it's also a part of XP SP2 RC1 and if your testing THAT you can access it also and SP2 RC1 is open to the public for download
I only enable it long enough to manualy use windows update and then turn it off. I never want MS to update my machine without me choosing when and what are updated.

To view the registry
1. Click on the Start button
2. Click on RUN
3. In the Open box type “regedit” (without quotes)
4. Click Ok
5. The Registry Editor will open
*WARNING*
Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems
resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk
6. The Registry Editor will open, navigate to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate
7. On the upper menu, click "Edit", and select Permissions from the drop-down list.
8. Give Administrator (And / Or System) Full Control and Read permissions by checking the allow boxes. NOTE: In certain instances these boxes are grayed out. Insure that all accounts have appropriate permissions.
9. Click "Apply", and then click "OK."
10. Close the Registry Editor
