here is what happened.
i moved my comp downstairs to play some video on the tv for my family, and then i hook everything up, try to boot the comp, it wouldn't boot. it will just shut down right away after i press the power button.
so i check all the wires and everyhint inside, and tried it again, it boots until the WINXP wlecome screen, and then shutsdown right away.

so i moved the comp baCK UPSTAIRS, and it does the same thing.

here is a list of hardwares
axp 1700+ oced
nf7-s
2wd hdd, and 1 maxtor hdd
radeon9800pro flashed to xt
cdrw, dvdrom drive

sounds to me like ur cpu heatsink is not making good contact with the 1700 and the bios is shutting down the computer to prevent ur cpu from frying. check the heatsink make sure it is making good contact

yah, if it started after you physically moved the computer, I'd say to reseat everything - heatsink, fan, processor, memory, cards, etc.

deff sounds like a heat problem, do as sugested and reseat your HSF, would be a good time to apply some new AS5 or ASC too!

alright here is some follow up.
If i just let the computer sit there for a while with power unplugged, and then i replug the power back, it will then let me boot.

and here is the weird thing. this is very random, sometimes my comp will feel very very laggy, and stops responding all of a sudden, when it does the above things,i would hear some clicking from on of my hdd, and then i would have to shut it down.

after i shut if off, i would not boot at all, and if i unplug the power for a while, then i can boot it again.
i don't think it's a temp problem, while the comp is on, with the CPU overclocked, and with a 30 some degrees C room temp, the load temp is high 40s and low 50s, so it's not a heat problem.

Uh Oh, maybe it's a "click of death" syndrome by your hard drive. I had 2 IBM Deathstars die and that sounds like the early symptoms of both of them. They would run fine if left stationary but if the computer was moved, the drives would start erroring out and making the "click of death". I eventually RMA'd both of those POS drives and got back 120GXP drives.

this 80 gig is my WD, i'm at my friends house backing up some stuff right now, will try to RMA it to WD soon. this sucks.

alright more updates, backed up most of my stuff onto my friend's hdd, and redid my whole computer, took everything out, and then put everything back in.

start the comp, and it goes to the windows xp loading screen(windows is installed in this 80 gig WD) and it will then take forever to load and never loads windows, never show the welcome screen.

so i did a repair install, and then finally got into windows, but now i'm stuck on the desktop, the computer is not froze or anything, but i just can't click on anything, even if i do click on something, it will respond like couple minutes later.

is this the offical end of my 80gig WD hdd??

Run the DLG Diagnostic tool and it will give you an error code if the drive is screwed. Write the code down, WD will want it should it be RMA time.

ran the dlg, the full extended test, and no errors.

i don't believe, since i switched the hdd, and installed windows on a different hdd, everything is back to normal now, and the 80 gig is still to blame i think.

I recently RMA'd my daughter's WD 160GB. She was having the same problem. Sometimes it was so bad that the computer wouldn't even finish the POST.

I went and got the computer and brought it back home. Wouldn't you know it, it booted right up. First thing I did was ghost an image to another drive. I ran the dlg test about ten times until it finally spotted the problem. I would not trust a drive that has had the problems you describe.

yeah, i requested a RMA on WD's site, advanced RMA they like to call it,

looks like i will receive a new drive from them before i send out the bad one.
