Problems with burning a CD

I formatted and reinstalled WinXP on my main rig (see sig) two weeks ago. Now, it is giving me grief when I burn a CD with Nero and I'm using the same verson of Nero on my lappy and it runs with no problems. Anytime when I copy a CD, burning files to CD or burning an image, part way through, Nero would crash. I thought it would be a problem with Nero, so I reinstalled it but no change. I just crashes in the first minute of burning a CD.
Then once, Coolmon terminated itself after windows boot it up. I restart Coolmon and went to burn an image. It works! Then today, I tried to copy a CD, it happens again. I uninstalled Coolmon, and tried to burn an image. It does the same thing.
Everytime Nero does this, it locks the burner and I can not eject the disc and I would have to reboot before I can get the burner to eject the disc.
Now, this is just pissing me off. My Gigabyte board always had a few quirks with WinXP but nothing that sacrificed the stability of windows or any programs running. I want to try and fix this problem without formatting Windows. I'm getting to a point to wanting to replace the Gigabyte with an Asus and upgrade the CPU while i'm at it but I really don't spend money on a new mobo and CPU just yet. Could it be that my burner is on the brink of dying? Mind you, I had my burner since 1999 and was burning just fine before I formatted my system.
Here are some screenshots that windows blurted out.

Some device (burner) compatibility fixes are also in the patches. Given that the lappy burns, are things being burned slower on it, and has the desktop's RAM been checked with the RAM check Prime keeps talking about??? Also, if the desktop has been used a lot more for burning, run a CD drive Lense cleaner CD for 30-sec to 90 sec and see if burning suddenly gets LOTS better, assuming that Nero Ultimate Edition updates do not fix.
John D-- who is actually at 23647 points right now and will....
Edit: The patch did the job. Thanks for the help.
