Installed and folding. Not fully setup for my gaming rig, but that doesn't happen til the watercooling kit shows up Friday. So what are yall experience for OC'in an FX. My system is ready to rumble! :smokin:

citrix has his 51 at 230 FSB 2.5 GHz. He posted a Sandra memory bandwidth screenie and it freakin smoked everything else. OMG it was insane.

My stock scores pretty much rocked. Over 5K on the memory bandwidth stock with ECC turned on. I just need to learn the ins and outs of overclocking the FX-53. The rules seem totally different. :Pwned:

my dual 240 opterons hit 5500 on the sandra memory bandwidth with stock pc2100 ecc memory but there was 6 sticks of it. you can probably double your score with two more sticks. four sticks of pc2700 should hit almost 10,000.

Ocing the sk8v is tricky, u need to get the 1002.019 bios to enable vcore/vdimm/v-link voltages.

also, its better if u OC using clockgen, Changing options in the bios will not always apply.

WATCH OUT for Performance mode (in jumperfree settings), it will boost ur vcore to the max (1.775v).

pm me if you need any help ;)

Tex: i dont think that rule applies to single cpu 940's.

So far I'm running 220FSB at 1.65V which comes out as a 2.7Ghz processor. Memory is happy at 2.7V. Sandra Memory bandwidth score increased to over 6200, and the cpu benchy scored over 11000.

I tried 225FSB and 230, but 230 caused system crashes and 225 caused a reboot 40% into a p212 for Folding@home. Upping the voltage for cpu and mem, and setting performance mode didn't help stabalize it. ECC is disabled.

Temps are around 109F with my watercooling rig. Which includes a Radeon 9800pro adding heat to the loop.

How hot does that chipset get? I have a better heatsink I could with a fan I could put on it. I'm thinking I am memory limited. What timings should I set for my Mushkin PC3200 reg?

wait a sec, what controller are u using for ur HDD? onboard stuff will corrupt ur OS right away.

you need to pickup one of those 33/66mhz IDE/sata controllers or else you ill never be stable.

Onboard Promise RAID. Seems happy so far. I have a 66Mhz Promise RAID controller I could add back in.

yes u need that 66mhz card or else you will run into problems once you hit the 225-230 zone.

for some reason if i mem bench anything over 230, my bandwidth decreases to 6.4gb/sec, it might need more voltage.

    at 230 i hit around 6.6-6.5gb/sec

you asked about mem timings, the ram that you have is awesome, it should handle tight timings @ 230

you shouldnt OC from the bios, get clockgen

FX's are not locked, i get the same result OCing from the bios.
have u installed that 66mhz card yet?

whats ur Vdimm@ u need to max that.
what videocard are u using? if it ATI, u need to lower ur agp to 4X to run games at 230FSB.

I think I am multiplier locked. If I try to switch it away from 2400 (12) it defaults to 11 for multi and shows as 2.42Ghz. The FSB changes which I had as high as 235 showed strong improvement in the benchmarks, but were not stable in games or reboots. 220 x 12 seems to be my sweet spot. I only score 6200 on the mem benches. This was Sandra talkin, it may be lyin to me on the Ghz.

My memory doesn't have heat spreaders, but I don't feel it getting warm either. Any thoughts?

Watercooling temps are 105 - 109 under load. 105 is with the bleed and fill lines in the external reservoir (7-11 Double Gulp 64oz cup). 109 is with the loop closed. It came with 2 120mm Delta's for the radiator, but I haven't taken the time to notch the sides of the fans to allow for the rad screws to pass through. It came with a rheostat too, for obvious reasons.

I have added in the Fasttrak TX2000. My video card is the ATI Radeon 9800pro, also watercooled.

Where do I get clockgen. I'll look for it later after I get home.

Memory voltage is at 2.8v, cpu is at 1.75
