Hi Folks,

I'm getting a new PC at work next week as this spec:
P4 2.6 or Higher 800MHz FSB
512 MB Ram
40 GB IDE HD
DVD-ROM/CD-RW
Integrated graphics card
Integrated 10/100/1000 Ethernet NIC
Floppy Drive
Loud Speaker
USB Keyboard/Mouse
Minimum 4 USB ports
17" TFT Monitor

Don't know much about Intel stuff, but is this processor able to hyperthread or whatever it is?

I manged to get my current PC folding after a big struggle to get past the firewall or whatever they try to stop me doing non work things ;) and it's been contributing a steady 20ish points a day for some time now.
Hope I can get the new one really cracking.

Cheers

:smokin: yes good for folding ...yes probably hyperthreaded.
You'll know that it's hyperthreaded when you run the client and then check task manager performance ...it will only report 50% cpu usage. If that's the case then install a second client into a different folder and name the machineID=2 ...then you'ra 100% folding maniac!

If it's a 800 fsb P4, it's definitely hyperthreaded so run 2 instances like csimon said. Also, be sure to run the -advmethods flag in the target of your startup shortcut so it will stay away from sTinkers, which P4's don't fold very well.

Yes should be a very good folder.

don't forget the -local flag on the second instance so you get credit on what the second instance turns in

to be sure, make sure "mmonnin" is set under username and it should be all good

    Good news, thanks.

Just hope I can get F@H installed on it OK. I had the devil of a job with my current work PC to get it to contact Stanford for a WU. Can't quite remeber how I did it in the end.
Perhaps there was a slip up in our IT department and they left a port open somewhere.

    Cheers
