I am having problems, with my new scsi set up. I got a fresh install of XP pro with all the latest drivers and updates. When every I try play games they are real laggy. And when I try to watch quicktime movies they mostly just show one frame every 15 second, but the sound keep playing just fine. I have converted the hard drive to NTFS dynamic disk, but that didn't help much. But when I do the above off of my secondary IDE everything works fine. Heres what I got for a system.

Iwill MPX2
(2)mp2000
1gig pc2700 ecc
Tekram DC-390u3w
IBM 36 gig U160
Game theater XP
Intel Pro/MT 1000 nic
GF4 ti4600
TTGI 520w EPS ps

Does anyone got any Ideas? Thanks, Adam

Okay, I did a bit of research to try and offer you some advice, as your board isn't exactly main stream. Anyway... basically unless I am greatly mistaken, your motherboard has issues... specifically with SCSI.
The dire performance of the two other SCSI RAID-hosts tested on the MPX2 points to a much more profound problem, which seems likely to be common to all motherboards using the AMD MPX chipset: we suspect that there is an issue between this chipset & devices using versions of the I2O protocol - which may be cured to some degree by firmware updates.

The bad: The IBM ServeRAID-4M is a decent-quality 64-bit 2-channel U3W host, very similar to Mylex hosts of similar specification [IBM own Mylex]:

The ServeRAID-4M's performance when installed into the MPX2 is very poor indeed, despite being optimally set up & using identical hardware to the Compaq 5302.

The ugly: The ICP-Vortex is a supposedly high-performing host; it is much more tweakable than the other hosts tested & we used the optimal settings recommended by ICP-Vortex; again using identical hardware as the Compaq & IBM.

The GDT7523RN's performance when installed in the MPX2 is dreadful - worse than a single 7200rpm IDE HD.

Bare in mind I only glanced at the above article/review, but it seems to offer cause for concern. However, whether or not the article is actually relevant to your problem I can still offer you some advice.

    1) Update the BIOS on your MOBO

    2) Update the BIOS on your DC-390u3w

    3) Try different combinations of positions with your cards around the different PCI slots

    4) Update your drivers to the latest from Tekram for the DC-390u3w

    5) Get your hands on a tweaking utility, like Powerstrip, or something like that, which will give you the ability to manually tweak your latency.

    6) Make sure you have the latest chipset drivers from AMD.

Do all of the above, and then let me know if there is any change in performance. If there isn't and the problem still remains, then I will do some more digging for you.

    Hope that helps.

Oh yea and get your hands on a copy of ATTO and post your scores on SCSI. (32MB transfer)

I noticed good old Tex helped you get it sorted over at Icrontic. Glad you managed to fix it.

For anyone who's interested or is having a similar problem, here's the thread:
