    check the updated instructions: http://www.short-media.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12173

using the info there get rid of this line:
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SectCool] C:\PROGRA~1\Tray hide\ooze copy city.exe

is that a program you installed knowingly?

if not - im pretty sure thats where your infection is coming from ... it follows a pattern in the new variants that have been showing up ... let us know if it helps ... if it does it helps confirm the new naming scheme.

no, and i cannot delete it nor from the host folder neither with hijackthis
i check "fix it" command for that string and after that it comes again

i don't know what to do

alrighty ... this worked for me once:

go to the host folder and rename the file, even if it is running you will be able to rename it. then restart your computer and hopefully, unless its updating the file from elsewhere, you sould be able to delete the file. now that it is gone you show be able to delete the entry in Hijackthis.

failing that, try the same procedure using safe mode, this should bypass any startup items and allow you to delete it.

let me know if it works ..

Manually go into your Program Files Directory and find a folder names Suppor* (anything that starts with "Suppor" that could be the item reported as "suppor~" . Look to see if it contains this Ballbird.dll. You may have to Show Hidden Files and Folders. If you find this item, delete it manually.

Yeah. You are correct. The Bluethat one looked suspicious to begin with, but the Backweb one was appearing (to me at least) to be associated with the logitech keyboard software I have running. I know better now!

I think one of the best fixes (for me) is to stop using IE. I'v cranked up my internet protection settings, installed Mozilla and am getting a new firewall.
The cocktail of HijackThis, Spybot S&D and AdAware should keep things under control.

    Thanks again! :)

    Any suggestions?

ctfmon is ok. Got that on mine. Might even come with Windows install.

I think the other one is ok too.

Ok I'm new to the board and I found you through my total annoyance with omegasearch...I tried to just find the files on my computer first and got rid of some but that didn't stop the passthrough page from coming up, then i got annoyed and went to the page and yes, i did download their uninstaller and tried to use it which of course didn't work. So i did a search and found the hijackthis software, but the files mentioned that i need to look for were not there. also, i got an error message before hijackthis opened.

    here's my log:

the only one i suspect is
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [inter rdr] C:\PROGRA~1\THUNKSLOW\KIND DASH.exe

but i'd rather someone more experienced confirm what i think before i totally screw up my computer.

OK! i still got omegasearch, but something's different:
an extra omegasearch window opens up with my explorer, one that looks like a toolbar, and when i close it, some stupid pop up window opens up.
Dexter, thanks for your help on this. You posted the following:
    F0 - syst>m.ini: Shell=
    F0 - R >ystem.ini: Shel>=
    F0 - R >ystem.ini: UserInit=
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {0204BF12-7A91-2672-26FF-58533F1533A6} - C:\PROGRA~1\SUPPOR~1\BallBird.dll
    O3 - Toolbar: ????? - {8E718888-423F-11D2-876E-00A0C9082467} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\msdxm.ocx

Does that mean that i should delete those, because you didn't say anything.
    Also, i tried deleting:
    C:\PROGRA~1\Ford Error Hide\DVD OPTION START.exe
but when i run a scan, it reappears!! what should i do?
Also, i found in my program files something called "Ford Error Hide", and it looks suspisious, because inside it is something called DVD Option Start!! Sounds familiar?
I also followed the previous guide, and tried to create a new restore point. But the thing is, i don't really know how to do that; It asks you to give the restore point a name, but shouldn't it let you set the restore date??? I'm sorry for asking such stupid questions, but i'm no computer wiz, that's for sure.
