Looks like it only functions as a repeater for certain D-Link products. It's kind of misleading, but if you don't hook it up as a repeater for the specific D-Link products, it acts as a standalone AP. At that point, you may as well just scrap your linksys and get a new AP or just buy the linksys wireless signal booster.
From the product page:
* Only Repeats the Wireless Signal of:
1- D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G™ DI-624 Wireless Router - Firmware 2.37 (Rev.C) or newer.
2- D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G™ DWL-2000AP Wireless Access Point - Firmware: 1.56 (Rev. A), 2.06 (Rev. B) or newer.
3- D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G™ DWL-G800AP Wireless Range Extender.
** Driver or firmware upgrade download available Q2 2004.
The range extender will work with the Linksys WMP11 cards. It has issues with the Dlink DWL-G 520/DWL 650. It works with the DWL G 650 and the DI614+ wireless router.
