ill be doing some randome task, maybe surfing the web or editing a photo, and all of a sudden my system will just start running realy slow and lagging bad. so then i try the most common fix of rebooting and right when i get to the windows loading screen with the nifty little moving bar in xp pro it will switch over to a black screen saying an error occured, unable to boot yada yada and im given options to go boot normaly, last known working condition, or safe mode. whichever one i choose it switches over to a blue screen saying unmountable_boot_volume. ive tryed replacing wires parts and all kinds of things, and resetting the bios. i found a way to fix it in the recovery console but the fix just causes more problems like missing or corrupt files in my os so most of my apps dont work when i get back in anyways. its happened to me like 4 times so im thinking it might be a virus or somthing. if anyone has had this problem and has any ideas please i could use some help.

ya, i read those but none of them seem to be the same as mine. i can repair it in the console but it damages a bunch of system files. it also comes back a month or 2 later no matter if i repair it or reformat my system. very annoying

RAM and HD problems can cause this. Sorry, but BOTH can do this. SO, unfortunately, can an overheating CPU or Power Supply that is marginally overloaded or beginning to fail or both, and surge suppressor that is dying can undervoltage things so the whole computer is unstable until the antisurge strip is replaced. AND a scratched XP CD can randomly cause all sorts of repeatable things including this, until it is run through a SkipDR MD or some such similar CD scratch remover\data CD recovery\refinishing machine.
