PC Perspective have been very fortunate to get a chance to spend some time benchmarking and testing a reference design nVidia 6800 Ultra (with a stunning 16 pipes!)..

Summarizing the performance of this card is a suite of the latest and greatest games available; we learn that the GeForce 6800 Ultra thrives on high resolutions and eye candy. In games and resolutions which are not CPU bound, the new flagship card from NVIDIA takes off and leaves the competition behind. Without question, this board has more than enough performance to make any game you buy off the shelf playable at any resolution. Given how taxing some of the upcoming blockbuster games will be, this is certainly the type of power you should be looking for.

Overall, the GeForce 6800 Ultra looks to be an incredibly versatile and capable solution. In addition to providing the highest performance and image quality, you get multimedia functionality and support for the latest features such as Shader Model 3.0. With titles such as FarCry, Painkiller, and the next Splinter Cell all taking advantage of Shader Model 3.0, you are certain to be able to see the games they way they were intended to be seen by developers with all the bells and whistles.
Gotta say it. The benchmarks really show it's got some guts. But the 9800xt wasn't blown away by it. Who wants to bet what ATI do next? They had better have something up their sleeve..
