omegasearch for iquan

I am having problems trying to get rid of omegasearch. I have run the hijack this but the problem still remains after I reboot. There is also a search task bar that has been popping up at the top of my browser which I can't get rid of. I am sure that has something to do with omegasearch. Here is my log of hijack this. What should I do?

Hi Iquan, Welcome to Short-Media :)

Make sure you have check the latest removal info here.

Start in SAFE MODE, run Hijack this, and check the following items:

    C:\PROGRA~1\List Title For\data admin.exe

    N3 - Netscape 7: user_pref("browser.startup.homepage", "http://home.netscape.com/"); (C:\Documents and Settings\Isaac\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\default\cz68nxm9.slt\prefs.js)

    N3 - Netscape 7: user_pref("browser.search.defaultengine", "engine://C%3A%5CProgram%20Files%5CNetscape%5CNetscape%5Csea rchplugins%5CSBWeb_01.src"); (C:\Documents and Settings\Isaac\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\default\cz68nxm9.slt\prefs.js)

    O2 - BHO: NavErrRedir Class - {0428FFC7-1931-45b7-95CB-3CBB919777E1} - C:\PROGRA~1\PERFEC~1\BHO\PERFEC~2.DLL

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Nurb Lite] C:\PROGRA~1\List Title For\data admin.exe

You will also want to manually delete the following file and it's folder from your Program Files folder.

    C:\PROGRA~1\List Title For\data admin.exe

Reboot normally and check, and let me know if it helped.

I am also going to make another post with some other recommendations for you shortly.

    ///EDIT: I think I missed one:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {591A5051-66FB-4CDB-BB93-4C51E6A98767} - C:\PROGRA~1\SECOND~1\Plus great.dll

    O3 - Toolbar: DVD LOVE COPY - {22225189-4FFC-085E-BA08-A13A6F412757} - C:\PROGRA~1\SECOND~1\Plus great.dll

That fits the Omegasearch pattern. Delete the entry, and manually delete the file from your hard drive.

You also have some other things you may want to delete.

    O2 - BHO: myBar BHO - {0494D0D1-F8E0-41ad-92A3-14154ECE70AC} - C:\Program Files\MyWay\myBar\1.bin\MYBAR.DLL

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {4A2AACF3-ADF6-11D5-98A9-00E018981B9E} - C:\Program Files\NewDotNet\newdotnet6_22.dll

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {136A9D1D-1F4B-43D4-8359-6F2382449255} - C:\Program Files\SuperBar\SuperBar.dll

    O3 - Toolbar: UCmore Toolbar - {53CBEE82-D747-11d3-9ED0-005004189684} - C:\Program Files\UCmore\UCMIE.dll

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [New.net Startup] rundll32 C:\PROGRA~1\NEWDOT~1\NEWDOT~2.DLL,NewDotNetStartup

Those are other spyware/adware malware programs.

These items are part of Kazaa and other P2P programs. If you delete them, they will prevent your P2P app from running, but these items are spyware/adware, and are tying up your resources:

    C:\WINDOWS\System32\P2P Networking\P2P Networking.exe

    C:\program files\altnet\points manager\points manager.exe

    C:\PROGRA~1\ezula\mmod.exe

    C:\PROGRA~1\Altnet\DOWNLO~1\asm.exe

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [P2P Networking] C:\WINDOWS\System32\P2P Networking\P2P Networking.exe /AUTOSTART

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AltnetPointsManager] c:\program files\altnet\points manager\points manager.exe -s

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [eZmmod] C:\PROGRA~1\ezula\mmod.exe

Run a new HJT scan and post a fresh log after doing all this, and we'll check it again.

    Thanks Dexter,

I did what you told me to in safe mode and it seems to have solved the problem. Thank you so much for your time and energy.
