Since ati is coming out with the x800 pro on april 26, anyone know how low the 9800 pro will drop? i'm holding off on buying one until they fall, but then again i haven't seen the 5950 drop because of the 6800u, so maybe ati will be the same for awhile. any ideas?

It may be out May 5th. the NV40 will be out a little bit before in April.

It will probably take a few months after the release for the 9800's prices to drop. Retailers will need to build up an inventory of the new cards in order for them to want to get rid of the old cards.

hm, well by tomorrow night i should have enough to buy one (confirmation party) but do you think i should wait, or just go out and get one relatively soon?

well, depends...if a few months = 1/2 months, then i should prolly wait. but any longer than that and i'll die cuz right now i swapped an old 2 meg pci w/my fam's gf2 mx400 and it won't be long until they notice it lol

Meh, you definitely need the upgrade asap assuming your system is up to spec. If you're not into games with killer graphics you may want to consider going for a lower end ATI card, saving $100 or so and then possibly upgrading in 6-8 months. It might not make economic sense for you but its always something you should consider. Actually nvm i just checked prices, its only a $80 cdn difference between the 9600 XT and the 9800 pro, going for a lower end card almost certainly doesn't make sense.

lol yep he figured it out today, tried to play his new game (ago of mythology) and it said "Warning! the video you are currently using blows!" or something to the tune of that. but anyway, i think i'm gonna order this (just got $270 today lol) http://www.buyxtremegear.com/r9800pro128.html now, it doesn't say the cpu/ram clocks, but i still think it's ok. anyone know for sure? and if not, is there a program i can use to find the exact numbers of both those once i get it, so i can rma or sue (lol) if it isn't correct?

I've got the same card. It does what it says on the box. You'll like it.
