auto memory check on boot

now, not sure if this is/was just a fluke, but ever since i set my 2.8c to 3.2c, whenever i booted the memory check was almost instant (i could see it counting, but it was *really* fast as opposed to normal). now, i attributed this to the higher fsb. problem is, i've had my comp running for about a week straight (4 days since last reboot, and it's only ever out of windows for a few seconds) and just today i noticed that the memory check seemed to drop back to a normal speed. did i ruin my memory? i only have one stick of corsair value select 512, but why would it suddenly drop down? the ratio is a 1:1 yet, so i don't know whats going on. any help would, as always, be appreciated. sm has never let me down yet!
