Would appreciate any help. I've [tried to] follow the instructions to remove Omegasearch, but it's still there. No doubt I'm overlooking something. Here is my HJ log after my attempt to remove it. Any wisdom much appreciated. Thanks.

    Welcome to Short-Media :)

Make sure to follow the Updated Instructions here.

Make sure to reboot in SAFE MODE. Do not open any other programs except HJT.

    FIX:

    O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {62999427-33FC-4baf-9C9C-BCE6BD127F08} - (no file)

That is likely the source of Omegasearch hanging around on your system.

Also, a few other spyware / adware related items you should get rid of:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [winactive] C:\Program Files\Window Active\winactive.exe

(This is part of the older LOP.com hijack that Omegasearch eveloved from, and may be related to the current Omegasearch infestation.

    O2 - BHO: myBar BHO - {0494D0D1-F8E0-41ad-92A3-14154ECE70AC} - C:\Program Files\MyWay\myBar\1.bin\MYBAR.DLL

    O3 - Toolbar: &SearchBar - {0494D0D9-F8E0-41ad-92A3-14154ECE70AC} - C:\Program Files\MyWay\myBar\1.bin\MYBAR.DLL

    (More spyware / adware.)

And a couple things to optimize your system's boot-up speed:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [P2P Networking] C:\WINDOWS\System32\P2P Networking\P2P Networking.exe /AUTOSTART

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AltnetPointsManager] c:\program files\altnet\points manager\points manager.exe -s

    Happy to help :)

I recommend tightening up your browser security using the tips in this article,
as well as using more caution in your browsing habits as outlined in both that article and the Remove Omegasearch article.

We hope you stick around, there are some great and knowledgeable folks here, who can help with almost any technical problem. And we have fun too :)

Also, please check out the links in my signature, and consider joining us in a very good cause: Folding For A Cure.
