Every person who have ever read a comic book has heard of Dave Cockrum. Dave was one of the artist that brought the X-men we know today to life in the early 70s. The X-men back in the late 60's and early 70's almost went out of existence, readership was way down and Marvel went for months on end with no new X-men comics. Dave Cockrum was one of the key people that turned the whole franchise around. He brought in Nightcrawler, Storm, Colossus to the team and they re-launched the X-men. The rest is history.

Fast forward to this month, Dave Cockrum is in the VA hospital with pneumonia and complications from diabetes. Dave gets no royalties, no monetary kickback at all from the whole X-men franchise that he created and now he is in serious trouble.

The full story can be found here

This is where we come in. I have been asked to help Mr. Cockrum so I am donating a complete kick ass system to be raffled off to benefit Dave Cockrum. This will allow everyone to have a shot at winning a killer system for only $5 at the same time you will be donating to a worthy cause. We have come to the aid of many people over the last 5 years, this time a man who has brought many people happiness over the last 20 years is in dire need. As always, I think this is this is the least we can do to show our support and at the same time, someone will get a fantastic computer.

Dave Cockrum, the artist who created Nightcrawler, Colossus, Storm, Thunderbird and a legion of other characters for both Marvel and DC, is suffering from complications from pneumonia, exacerbated by his diabetes, at a veterans hospital in the Bronx. Being bedridden for weeks caused enough nerve damage in his legs to prevent him from being able to walk on his own and, even with the assistance of a walker, his injured lungs prevent him from making it more than 300 feet before he is completely out of breath.

His legally blind wife Paty is subsisting on a disability check in their South Carolina home and is unable to make the long trip to New York to see her husband, but calls him daily. If Cockrum could afford better treatment and care, he could be relocated from the Bronx hospital to a facility in South Carolina near his wife and home, a home he has never seen because he fell ill within days of a schedule move from New York
