it's perferctly ok if, say, my friends and i (and if we can get our school in on it) to have like team SFHS and have them all be that user, right? then we could climb up and woop y'all hehe

It would be better if it said "KingFish" instead.

well, yes, unfortunately you're way ahead lol. but that'd be good right? (cuz i'm sure the people at the top have TONS of comps running this!). also, for the school (we just may go talk to them) would it be smarter for them to run screensaver or regular? note: those comps range from 700mhz to 2.8ghz. they'll probably worry about cash too lol

I'd run them as a service with the console version that way less people will be prone to mess with it.

Yeah, I have about 10 friends folding under my name. As KingFish mentioned, the service is best for no-touchy, no-screw-up, but I generally have my friends dowload the graphical because it is simpler, out of the way in their sys tray, and lets them see the visualizations and easily see how much work they've done (even for the computer illiterate among them).

yep, i'm thinkin if we do decide to talk to the comp admin or whatever he calls himself, we'll have to figure out a way to either a)time it b)run as screensaver or c)let it run all the time. this would definitely be interesting, though. hell i've been thinking about just running it as a service on every comp i use (eventually they'll find out, but then i could just explain hehe). tho with the nanny software junk they use...idk lol. we'll see ,but thanks for the ideas

Using stealth installs is a constant issue with many people on this site and others. I've thought about it myself and so have others. I've always decided against it as it'll have a reverse effect if someone discovers it. If you act shadowy in the implementation people will easily believe that the progam itself is shadowy. Be upfront with people and admins about what it is and sell them on the idea. You'll sleep better at night that way too. It's the right thing to do. Develop a "sales pitch" that will make it hard for an admin to resist. If someone personal to the admin has been touched by the many diseases that folding tries to seek cures for it'll go in your favor. Point them to the stanford site or print a lot of the stuff out and put it neatly into a folder for the person to look at. Many people are of the mindset that the F@H program is a backdoor into computers when there is nothing further from the truth. It can be an uphill battle and a tough technical explanation but it can be done. Also, offer the admin a challenge. Offer to install it on only one or two of the computers chosen at random and let it run for a week. If there is any problem whatsoever the deal can be off. Offer your computer services in exchange for the privilege of installing F@H on the lab boxes. There are many angles of attack to come from but I think it'll be a mistake in the long run to sneak behind the admin's back and do stealth installs. Be upfront and honest and you'll feel better about it.

SFHS will do. We dont like to have subteams so leave the team off the front of it. I got one of my HS teachers to let me run FAH on one of the labs there. About 10 P4s or so. UVJVS_Lab is the username.

Yeah i once though of stealph install. Luckly some members pointed out what a mistake it would be. Now i just need to translate a document that mmonin wrote and mail it to the techies in school. Not sure when i'll find the time to talk so i'll try email. Getting schools to fold is great as long as they know what they're doing.

They will be more likely to let yo run it if they know you in person. Like mine was a teacher so I saw him 5 days a week and still a friend after I graduated. The personal touch helps.:)
