NEW MSN Messenger 6.2 Released / Messenger Plus! v2.54.75

Microsoft have released a new version of MSN Messenger. You can grab it below. This update doesn't seem to have added as many new features as we had expected, but nevertheless a worth while update. The client also now includes the 'MSN toolbar' as an optional feature to install. This release of MSN Messenger 6.2 is sadly not compatible with Messenger Plus! v2.54.74 or below (which v2.54.74 until today was the most recent version). Patchou has since updated Messenger Plus! to make it compatible with 6.2. You can grab v2.54.75 below as well. The widely reported big update to Messenger Plus! (Version 3) is on schedule for a mid-May release.

Note: If you're are using Windows Installer 3.0 RC1, you may need to uninstall it before MSN Messenger 6.2 will install.

MSN Messenger 6.2 New features:
-Launch Site renamed "Fun & Games"
-Shared Browsing Enabled for MSN Subscribers
-MSN Messenger "Connection Troubleshooter" (automatically solve many network connectivity problems)
-Minor : 'Real time' emoticon displaying when typing messages (e.g. : ) -> whilst you type)
-Minor : Ability to hide the standard buttons at the top of the messenger window, ala MS Messenger
-Minor : Mobile grouping on the main pane; for mobile contacts they are grouped asides from normal contacts

MSN Messenger 6.2 is out and the current version of Messenger Plus! had to be updated to stay compatible with this new Messenger version. Note that compatibility with Windows Messenger has also been improved in this release.

according to this site, microsoft have delayed the release of 6.2 for at least a week, perhaps to fix the install problem

Perhaps yes, but the install problem as far I can tell is with Windows Installer 3.0 RC1 not MSN Messenger. Installs fine on systems without that beta installer, installed.

I downloaded messenger 2.54.75, and was attacked by pop ups, toolbars and new icons on my desktop. Is there a way to download without all of those extras?

You could try this patch...it removes the banner: [url=]http://www.mastaline.be/?pagina=fun/msnstuff2&sort=id&hoe=DESC[/url]. If you're stil haven't gotten rid of the junk/spyware you could try Spybot ([url=]http://download.com.com/3000-2144-10194058.html?tag=lst-0-1[/url]) and/or Adaware: ([url=]http://download.com.com/3000-8022-10214379.html?tag=lst-0-5[/url])

When you haven't installed messenger plus! yet, please note that you should select: "I refuse, do not install the sponsor programme", instead of "I accept..."
