Need help with Troj/Banker-W virus!!

Has anyone encountered the so-called Troj/Banker-W virus? It is described at www.sophos.com/virusinfo/analyses/trojbankerw.html and it looks exactly like what I've got.

The virus has loaded a DLL named LSD_F3.DLL into my Windows System folder. It also completely messed up my IE6 ("coolwebsearch" start-up page, error messages for valid URL's, redirecting to other sites, pop-ups, etc.) Netscape works fine though.

I tried to fix it with the bug-fixers I presently have (CWShredder, Ad-Aware, Spybot, Peperkiller and Avast cleaner) but NOTHING WORKED! Anyone has any ideas, PLEASE!

Here's my Hijack This log. THANKS!

    Welcome to Short-Media :)

You have a lovely collection of spyware, adware and trojans, as well as some hijack elements.

Reboot your computer in Safe Mode. Run HJT and Fix the following entries:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.searchmeup.com/search.php?aid=1057

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://www.searchmeup.com/search.php?aid=1057

    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.searchmeup.com/search.php?aid=1057

Next, still in Safe Mode, run Regedit. Following the directions on the Sophos site for the virus you think you have ( http://www.sophos.com/virusinfo/analyses/trojbankerw.html ) search for and delete the registry keys mentioned. Then search for the DLL file it is using and manually remove that from your computer.

Then: invest in a good anti-virus program. Update it and run it in Safe Mode.

Then: practise better browsing habits. Tighten up your browser security by follwing the tips in this article: http://www.short-media.com/review.php?r=132

Please post back to let us know if this cleared things up for you.

    Dexter...

You are very welcome. Please feel free to tell others about our site, and we hope you stay on as a member here. Also, please check out the links in my signature to find out more about our "pet project"...Folding For a Cure.

    A couple of more things:

    - Devldr16.exe: this is installed by Creative Labs sound cards, and should not be deleted.

    - O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [UpdReg] C:\WINDOWS\Updreg.exe

    - O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\evntsvc.exe -osboot

Auto-updater for Real Player, not necessary and wasting resources.

    Dexter...

That guy can be deleted, it is just a reminder to register your Creative Labs hardware.
