right click in windows xp pro

edited April 2004 in Science & Tech
On the college network, admin have disabled the right click menu. This pisses me off so much. I was wondering if there was anyway that i could enable it again on my account. they have also set it to the bog standard grey theme. Agaiin is there any work around for this that will let me atleast have the blue luna theme...? The computers are running windows xp pro. Any help is good. Thanks in advance.

If they have done it properly using Active directory then more than likely no. This will be a Group Policy that locks it down when you log in.

In a word, no you can't. As Necropolis identified, you are bound by group policy.

On top of that, trying to bypass is likely to get you grief from your college admins ;)

the admins are stupid, they have no idea.... are there no loopholes in active directory? How do you go about setting it up? I might do it at home to stop idoit house members installing dialers and such...

First things first for active directory you need a windows 2000 or 2003 server (£410 + VAT). Then you have to install Active directory. Then you have to set-up the DNS and DHCP. Then you have to set up your users. Then you have to set-up the Group Policy Objects (this is the pain in the arse bit) More hassle than its worth for home use.

The admins are so stupid that they've successfully locked you out of what you are trying to do ;D

Log in locally and not into the domain, as admin... thats about your only other choice...

Current admin did not set up the present system. The only thing these guys actually do is plug projectors in for slide shows then take them away. Oh actually i saw one of them connect speakers up to a pc... but they had plugged it into the wrong socket so they did not work.

I wonder if they blocked the functionality of the mouse or the entire context menu. There's a keyboard shortcut for that.

Something like Shift+F10 or press the menu (rectangle with a mouse pointer icon)button on the keyboard.
