Cable company Telewest is to offer the UK's first three megabit cable broadband service.
In a shake-up of existing services it will speed up all its broadband products by 50% for free.

Rival cable net provider NTL is also increasing the speed of its broadband services by 50% at no extra cost.

NTL are still only offering a 1mb connection, pumped up to 1.5mb by these changes.

So not fair but hey I might be moving soon.. so I can enjoy the 3mb :)

And for the rest of the UK (being the other 99.99% who can't actually get cable) they are all still being screwed on prices for super low end broadband with no speed-up in sight.

Weeird, Comcast Cable (company that now monopolizes the broadband infrastructure of much of the U.S.) just upped all the speed to 3megabit everywhere as well, probably since they kept ramping up the prices with nothing in return, but I love my new speeed :D

Dan, can you get telewest in Cambs, I'm stuck with NTL here in Newbury, so no 3mb for me, just an upgrade to 1.5mb. Still cant complain at that. :)

Edit : Sorry I see you mean moving house, not cable supplier.
