silent fans on 5 volts

edited April 2004 in Hardware
to make the fans run without sound, u can use the 5 volt insted of 12 volt.
that way it will be silent but less power.
i use the 5V to run my case fans.
low RPM = silent
also, i have water cooling and ther is no reson for hi RPM on the radiator !
also, no need hi RPM in the power suply, some are very noisy...
and for the case, if u have more then one fans, so, it is nessery.
i live in israel, very hot in the somer, and the 5V is doing fine,
but 7.5 volt its beter.

-did anyone know how to take 7.5 volt out of the power suply ?

You splice 1 leg into the +12v line and the other leg into the +5v line and you will then have your fan running on 7v. Much better for running your fans as some fans have startup problems with just 5v but the drwback to the 7v trick is that it messes up most fan's rpm monitors.

ok, thenx, it's work fine, but i like it beter with the 5V, i use the power suply fans, it's startup good, i think they are beter then the regular case fans.

    thenx.
