Socket 8 = What?

What processor used to run on the Socket 8? Was it the old Pentium Pro that had the integrated cache on die that had a very low yield rate?

Anyway, We have an old test set for a device that can control and trackup to 15 missiles at once. The AGM-142 POD that goes on the B-52 - not classified so I can mention it.

The computer for the test set is an old piece of hardware, running a 100-166MHz Socket 8 CPU, 128MB of 72pin SIMMS (all four slots filled) 4 ISA slots, 4 PCI slots, Windows NT4, SCSI Hard drive and CD-ROM w/Iomega Jazz drive, a 4x SCSI CD-ROM drive, and a floppy drive, 300W AT or ATX PSU. Unfortunately, if the Air-Force can't find someone else who needs this within the Air-Force or other government agency, it will get destroyed, and they will not donate any hardware or surplus goods because it might cause a conflict or show of support to a particular group (such as a church)

The new computer that goes into the test set so far of what I know has a 733MHz CPU, Yamaha CD-ROM, Yamaha 12/10/40 CD-RW, and two hard drives, and a floppy drive.

Yes, Socket 8 were Pentium PRO sockets - up to 200mhz. They were gigantic because of the (then) huge on-die cache.
