M-Audio soundcard help...

edited April 2004 in Hardware
My friend has just bought an m-audio audiophile 2496 pci card, it says it has 4 inputs and 4 outputs, but he's just discovered it means 2 analog inputs and 2 spdif inputs, 2 analog outputs and 2 spdif outputs. the problem is he has no breakout box to make the spdif outputs work.He is using a program called Traktor DJ Studio, and needs 4 analog outputs...in the audio setup of traktor dj, he needs master left and right as his main output, and monitor left and right , to listen to both decks before he mixes...but in the setup he can only choose two analog channels, the other two channels are SPDIF, which is digital...in simpler words, he's got the two output rca jacks connected to his stereo for his main audio output, but he wants to connect his headphones to the other rca jacks, not the SPDIF jacks...is there anyway to make the analog input an output??

Any help would be appreciated...Colin

Thanks. :celebrate

Yeah, that's the scummy way they market their products - they don't tell you that there's only 2/2 analog.

You'll need to get a digital/analog convertor to turn those SPDIFs into analog ports... Unfortunately, they are pricey.. :(
