Id like to rip my cds (that I own) to my hard drive just in case I get a scratch can anyone recommend a good program for that?

Let me offer a perfectly legal alternative:

Get a SkipDR M.D. electrically driven CD restorer. That thing ROCKS and does do what it says it will do if you follow the directions verbatim-- to the letter or very close to the letter. I have restored badly scratched Microsoft operating system distribution CDs, music Cds, and data CDs with it.

A couple hundred CDs later, the thing still works, though I have had to replace the restoring wheels and I now use ordinary distilled water for wetting, from a large plant spray bottle set to fine spray setting that is refillable. Use what you think is a bit to a bunch too much water, not just sparing amounts. The resurfacing fluid that comes with it is ionically purified and PH balanced distilled water. Run it over a bath towel, or you and\or the carpet might get wet if you use the right amount of water.

There is no law against restoring scratched CDs.

I use plain old WMP to rip WMA files. Sometimes I use dbPowerAmp.

If you're not an audiophile, you can pretty much use any.

Been ahwhile since I've ripped a cd although my music collection mysteriously keeps growing. ;D
