This one has me stumped.. I got a call and one of my family members computers was getting done with post and restarting. So i am here to take a look. Well it completes post sucsessfully and then goes on to try and load xp. The boot screen doesnt show but if i am quick enough i can get to the boot menu. Well it wont do safe mode or lkgctw.. So i put my xp cd in and boot with it and went to try and do a repair install, it doesnt see xp installed.. I thouhgt this was werid so i restarted with my xp cd and went to recovery console and tried fix boot.. well that didnt work either so i did a dir on C: It said no file found! Now keep in mind the only thing this computer is used for is pogo games... So it looks as if the drive has been wiped but the partition manager says 6 gb used and 13 free... I am throughly confused on this one...

Well, Looks like all files got hidden+system marked.... Or root directory entries got wiped, or journal got totally wiped or the $MFT renamed. How that happened, no certain pinpoint idea. Unless someone encrypted the whole thing from root of boot drive onwards. Or drive letters got changed and E: is boot drive and all that is on C: IS encrypted and compressed.

You could POSSIBLY have CHKDSK'd it in the recovery console, from a CD boot, I would have CHKDSK /R 'd it.
