I want the console-only version to run when I'm using my computer, but I want the screensaver to run when I'm away for x amount of minutes. Is there anyway I can tell the console to pause and/or exit when the screensaver is activated? Also, is there a way to get the console into the tray? (The reason I use the console is it seems to keep the cpu cooler, prolly because it doesn't have to worry about drawing the molecule)

Why don't you just leave the console-only version on all the time via tray-it (Sends programs to task bar), and tell your monitor to turn off after X minutes?

i could...but i do like a cool screensaver :) also, however much they stress that it only uses idle cpu time i rather doubt it ... i'd like to have it start when i boot, then be able to kill it when i play games / cpu intensive programs. i'm only on my system for about 4-6 hours on a school day and the rest of the time it's folding in screensaver. is there a noticeable difference between console and gui/screensaver (how many frames / sec)?

There is a difference in frame times of seconds between console and GUI, but over time you can see how seconds would add up sincerely to produce many extra completed WUs per year.

That said, I've never had any benchmarked/real world issues from running folding console and games at the same time.

As Thrax said use Tray it to move the console to the system tray.

Dont know if there is an option in scheduled tasks but you might want to look in there.

I wouldnt do the console and SS thing on the same computer. It will just slow the project down since you are working on 2 WUs at once insead of one.

And yes the SS should be slower since it has to draw pictures instead of just folding.
