Another Raid question

Ok so I was rebuilding one of my machines and in stalling everything onto a partioned raid array that was set up & formatted with a 16K stripe size & 32K cluster size. Everything was fine until I physcially moved the box to where it permanently lives, on booting the machine up again it went into a permanent reboot cycle. So I tried using the fixboot command in xp repair tools and that kind of worked but I've now got a wierd desktop where all the ms icons are seem to be drawn in 8bit colours. A reintall didn't fix it so i've decided to start again.

My question is, if I reformat the c drive using the tools in xp set up will it format it using the default cluster size (i believe its 4k) rather than the desired 32k

Also is 16k stripe & 32K cluster still the optimum these days, the partitions are 2 x 10 gig, 1 x 60gig & 1 x 220+ gigs

All help much appreciated as always.

    Yes

    And

It depends entirely on your setup and what you are going to be doing with it... However I think that 16 and 32 should be a good place to start...

    gtghm,

thanks for that consice answer, the box is my general one so it'll just be holding my music, vids, email etc etc, no gaming, just general purpose.

oh well time to load another disc with xp installed on it and format the c "raid" partition again with a 32k cluster.

    regards
