Microsoft confirms 4th quarter schedule for XP-64

The Inquirer has confirmation from Microsoft that the AMD64 version of Windows XP isn't scheduled for release until the fourth quarter of this year. Seeing as AMD's 64-Bit processors are more than holding their own in the current 32-Bit environment, I doubt AMD will be too worried. It is however still disappointing that by the time XP-64 is made available AMD's 64-Bit chips will have been out for getting on for a year.
Also on show will be Windows 64-bit for AMD and Intel, which isn't scheduled for release until the 4th quarter, according to a statement from Microsoft.
