Copying dvd's.

edited May 2004 in Science & Tech
Im having a problem copying dvd's that are bigger than 4.7, | was wondering what the simplist way i could get it to fit on a single layered disk? I have a dvd reader and dvd writer? Most are about 7 gig in size.

Also is it possible to buy dual layered disks, iv looked everywhere, was going to buy some and just use nero to burn disk to disk. I live in England, anyone know where to find the cheapest dual layered? Im looking for about 100 blanks. :)

You can't really buy dual layered, but you don't need to either.

I don't know, do you? Either way, you need one to copy DVDs.

I had a problem with using dvd shrink, it keeps saying "Failed to read from ASPI device"?

Also when i do bring the film up on dvd shrink, when i edit the files i don't use it takes the main film out automatically, and says 0mb's i remove subtitles in every language bar english and it also took the main vs1.vob movie file out, which was about 5.5gig, main film size without adjustments is 5370 gb's. Cannot take out anything in that. Any thought's, would this be due to it not reading the whole disk because of the ASPI error? Also gave me no option to clean for better quality.

Sounds as though you need to install an ASPI layer. Problem explained Here

Also a link there to download the ASPI layer checker.

Latest ASPI layer available from Adaptec’s site or possibly at the site of the above link.
