Omegasearch I hate It !!

Thank you for this forum, I hope it will be beneficial to me. I got Omegasearch and can't get rid of it. Look at the log and you will see why. I've used Hijack This, Spybot, Ad-Aware, but the bugger keeps coming back. This is my log. I have to specify that whenever I use Ad Aware my Norton Antivirus refers to a backdoor trojan called tcp32ss.exe. Maybe that's the catch. I would appreciate it very much if one of you experts would take a look at my log and tell me what to delete. Also the way to get rid of the trash is not completely clear to me. Thanks in advance.

make sure to delete any of the referenced files.

you have quite an extensive infestation, not to mention some items which although not spyware, are resource hogs and are slowing you down, please post an updated log and we'll take care of the rest once youve got rid of these:

p.s. could someone else have a peek and see if i left anything out ... been up for far too long at this point :)

Well that sure did the trick!!! Great relief. I rebooted a few times to make sure. As requested I post my updated Hijack log, I hope you will discover some flaws that slow me dowm.
The tcp32hlp.exe kept giving me some trouble with NAV (Backdoor.Trojan) as long as the backup was't completely deleted in safe mode, but it's gone now.

By the way.... is there no way to react against the people that intrude my computers ?? I mean when I come into your house uninvited and start harassing the family,,,,,,,, well I think you would react or am I wrong????

THX very much Mondi, I will spread the word about the very quick help I got from you in this forum. I will hang around for a while, maybe I can be of any assistance (I could try to answer the easy questions about the sweeping procedure for instance:)

By the way.... is there no way to react against the people that intrude my computers ?? I mean when I come into your house uninvited and start harassing the family,,,,,,,, well I think you would react or am I wrong????

There is really no recourse. In many cases, the stuff gets into your computer bundled into other software you download and install. Be wary of anything "free", it often comes with some sort of spyware or adware to help the developer make money. Other times you just get "hijacked", and that is usually only when you surf sites of "questionable" nature. Safe browsing habits and smart software installation decisions will help keep you clean. You can also install Spyware Blaster, which can immunize you against hijacks. You can find that in our Security Downloads section.
THX very much Mondi, I will spread the word about the very quick help I got from you in this forum. I will hang around for a while, maybe I can be of any assistance (I could try to answer the easy questions about the sweeping procedure for instance:)

Feel free to just stick around have fun and learn. We are more than just a tech site, we are a "community", with lots of great discussion on technical matters as well as non-tech topics in the Pub. But the best thing you can do is join our Folding For a Cure team. Folding is a distrubuted computing program where your computer's spare processing power can be put to work in the background, searching for the cure to many diseases. Click the links in my signature to learn more about this worthy cause, and consider joining the Short-Media folding team - currently ranked #9 in the world!

As for your fresh log, it looks pretty good. There are a lot of items but most of them are legit. You can remove a few unnecessary items:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [UpdReg] C:\WINDOWS\Updreg.exe

(This just reminds you to register your Soundblaster hardware.)

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_04\bin\jusched.exe

(Automatic software updaters for Quicktime and Java. Not needed as the programs will also tell you if you need an upate when you actually use them.)

    O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office Snelzoeken.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\FINDFAST.EXE
    O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office Werkbalk.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\MSOFFICE.EXE
    O4 - Global Startup: Office Opstarten.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\OSA.EXE

(These are optional components of MS Office, and will not affect the programs if you remove them from startup. These just enable the FastFind deature, and the Toolbar feature.)

O8 - Extra context menu item: &Add animation to IncrediMail Style Box - C:\PROGRA~1\INCRED~1\bin\resources\WebMenuImg.htm

(Do you use Incredimail? If not, delete this.)

That's it, those will just help speed up your boot time by a little bit.
