North America's Fastest Supercomputer Debuts
Three companies - Linux cluster vendor California Digital, Quadrics, and Intel - have just announced that they have successfully deployed the most powerful Linux supercomputer ever built: a state-of-the-art turnkey solution for Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory codenamed "Thunder."

Between Lawrence Livermore lab and the Oak Ridge Lab it looks like our (USA) national laboratories are beefing up their computing power significantly. -KingFishA Linux cluster deployed at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and codenamed "Thunder" yesterday delivered 19.94 teraflops of sustained performance, making it the most powerful computer in North America - and the second fastest on Earth.
