Tom's Hardware Overclocks both the P4 3.2"C" Northwood and 3.2"E" Prescott to 4 ghz and compares their performance.
We benchmarked and compared the Prescott at these higher clock rates to the Northwood's performance. Will the 90-nm processor equipped with a 1-MB L2 cache and longer pipelines live up to Intel's performance claims?
I doubt it

The peformance difference to me did not seem enough to warrant doing that with your own system and it appears intel is hitting the glass ceiling. I guess we have to wait and see what their next gen space heaters err I mean processors will do.. based off the centrino cores I believe? and what their multi cores will do. Until then buying a P4 above 3gigish is kinda pointless.
