I just found this emergency boot cd and I am downloading it as I am typing out this post. This can be very helpful to rescue dead computers. From what I can find out on the site, it has DOS, Windows, and Linux tools to do the job. There are two version, pro and lite. Of course, the pro version has more programs included and both versions are free.

Here is the site. http://www.ebcd.i-am.ru/

    Ace find man.

This thread has now been un-stuck, with the original post copied and integrated into 'The Tweaks and Tricks Thread' with a link also added to the Emergency Files section of the 'Downloads' thread.

    Cheers

Not quite for emergencies, but this is helpful. It has many tools to help test the security of a system. It is based off the Knoppix Linux Distro, and is called Knoppix-STD. You can find it at http://www.knoppix-std.org

Would an emergency tools thread be worth starting??

There is currently an ermengency files section to the downloads thread, which I update with peoples suggestions, like for example the ermengency boot cd posted in this thread. I don't see the need for a dedicated thread to be honest. If someone has an interesting piece of software or whatever, they can simply post a thread about that specifically, and then if it's worthy it can be added to the downloads and tweaks and tricks thread. I think that system works best at the moment. Thanks for the suggestion though, I will have a think about it nevertheless. However, don't let me stop you from starting one.

Ok, will start one tomorrow-- AFAIK, no-one has mentioned tomsrtbt, UBD (Ultimate Boot Disk, which come in a form that includes Part, which is a nice emergency partition editor from a fellow whose name is Ranish(the original developer)), and a couple others.

I wanted to download this file today (accidental deletion) and now the site is gone. Anyone know where this site has gone?
