PS2 Sound Problem

Whenever I watch dvd's on my PS2 the volume is always super low, so much that I usually have to turn the volume on the tv all the way up. One of the speakers on the tv doesn't work, but the other sounds fine when I'm playing games with it. Any ideas?

It should be the same if it comes from the same cable. Thats really weird. What happens if you throw in a music cd?

I've noticed this too and chalk it up to the increased dynamic range on DVD's, but I guess they'd still normalize to 0db and compress the hell out of things, so that's probably not the reason.

I forget if CD's are also quiet, I think they are... I think the PS2 in general makes me turn the volume on my TV up a bit.
