Internet Explorer Color Settings are whacked!

The colors displayed in IE are not true to the websites that I'm visiting. Background coloring seems to be missing or defaulting to white. I have hit the reset web settings in IE, to no avail. Should I just reinstall IE?

Colors isn't under web settings... go to Tools/Internet Options and there is a "Colors" button there. The default "Use Windows Colors" should be checked. If it is and your colors are still whacked, then your Windows Color scheme (or its base palette) is whacked somehow.

This setting has been checked and it is selected. So, how do I fix my color palette?

I'm not entirely certain. If you're OK with installing other software (some people really don't like to install anything they don't have to) download Firefox from www.mozilla.org and run that to see if you get the same color corruption. If not, then it might still be an Internet Explorer setting causing the problem. If the colors are off in Firefox too, then I'd assume it's Windows.

Also, IE CAN block graphics, sites can use graphics for backgrounds. AND, if you set default web zone security too HIGH, you can have the browser not accept custom settings for colors as well as other things you do NOT want-- try medium for web zone. Some of those can be default background colors.

Cutting back you number of colors in Windows in the Display Properties can result in whacked colors, and setting things too bright can wash slightly colored backgrounds too white.

I had the same problem. What worked for me was unchecking the USE HIGH CONTRAST checkbox in the ACCESSIBILTY OPTIONS dialog window.

Go to CONTROL PANEL / ACCESSIBITY OPTIONS, then select the DISPLAY tab. Uncheck the USE HIGH CONTRAST checkbox. All background colors and font stability should return immediately. If not, reboot and try again.

While you're at it, disable the shortcut to high contrast to avoid accidentally invoking it again.
