The Inq has a rumor that AMD is testing a new 90nm Socket 900 chip codenamed Toledo
A REPORT ON AMD Board claims that Advanced Micro Devices is testing a 90 nanometre DDR silicon on insulator (SOI) processor using a new-fangled 900 pin socket and codenamed Toledo.

That, the site claims, will be introduced in the second quarter of next year.

And, it adds, dual core DDR-2 90 nanometre chips will follow just a few months after that.

Another socket change? Why move away from something is has been known for, keeping the same socket across several years.

AMD's own roadmap states that the Toledo CPU is a dual-core 90nm process with DDR2 support debuting H2 '05.
