My first attempt at flames ( PICS )

So the plan is to put some flames on my project case I'm working on. I already have the base black coat on, so I started with the flames today.
I messed up on pulling the tape off too soon so it messed the tips up some, so the plan starting tommorow is to sand the case down and start back with a fresh case.

Here are the pics I got today

The first is after I got the flames cut out, and as you can see the final product where the tape took off some of the paint but you get the idea of what it will look like.

LMAO! I don't think that's the same kind of "flames" Clutch was referring to. ;D

I suck at painting, and I would hate to see what it turned out like if I tried my hand at the pinstripe idea.

And Brian, I love you to ;D

They didn't turn out the best in the world, but it was my first try, I'm now sanding the case back down to the metal and going to start all over again. One day I will be done with this mod, haha I just don't see it any time soon.

Sounds like your having fun though, Clutch. And btw, it didn't look bad at all in the pic. :)

Thats pretty fing good for your fist time clutch, better than I could do. Pretty good fade job too. Heck, I kinda like the black flames better!! Makes me wanna paint my case white and put black flames on it.

Damn neat looking, Jeremy. And even more impressive that it's your first time. The fade effect is sweet.

when you paint shoot the black then 2-3 coats clear, then lay down the flames and spray clear over then (2-3 coats) too. Then wet sand whole case and a coat of clear that helps too. Also makes flames :wow2:

I will try that Bud, I went and got some some clear this afternoon. Took about an hour to sand the whole case back down again, and I just got in from the primer stage. It will have to stay like that overnight until I can get some black paint tommorow though.

Thanks for the compliments guys, I was really hoping the fade effect would come out good, I was staying away from the ghetto paint job look, haha.

The hardest part about the flames was cutting them out, took about 1 1/2 hours with a blade cutting them out. Next time around, I'm going to work on my flame design to try to take it up a level.

I will keep the white/black idea in mind. Right now this case is giving me the run around with all the layers of paint on it. Since I have it sanded down, some spots are worse than others. I got to do some major work tommorow to get it all the way down to the base metal and start fresh. I had to break out the electric sander and all on it.
