I was wondering if I need to keep all the temp internet files located at c:\windows\temporary internet files\IEContents... etc? I know I have found just tag lines within the files and also some adware gets caught up in it also. I just don't know if I can without messing up my system even more or not. BTW I have windows ME.

Thanks in advance.
Tammy

No. Temporary internet files are just that. :) Feel free to delete early and often.

Nope, you don't need to keep them. I delete them once in a while myself. I think the files are used to keep some content of the web pages you visit on the hard drive, making some things slightly faster. Sometimes, unless you set a limit, the files can consume quite a bit of space. You can get rid of them, it doesn't matter.

Only maybe bad thing that deleting what is inside that folder will do is not let you browse some sites without your modem connected to the web-- offline browsing, it is called.

    Try this Tammy:

    Start Menu
    accessories
    System tools
    Disk Cleanup
check all options when it opens and gives you a list of places with squares by some and maybe some checked.

It will empty that folder for you, leave folder, get rid of contents.
Now empty anything in your recycle bin.

You can also tell Internet Explorer to do this, Disk Cleanup is less hard to figure out and more universal to tell how to do.

But IE has had several bugs that under certain conditions would leave the directories it created out there anyway even with that flag set. Best to manually clean that baby out from time to time.

Is there anything that I should look to NOT delete? I went to the disk cleanup area, and it definately didn't clean up everything. I still have tons of cookies, and lots of other items in there.
