GA-K8N Pro DISK BOOT FAILURE
Im new to this forum thing but I do have a question and I would appreciate any help you can give me. I have the GA-K8N Pro and I have installed windows numerous times. When i go to boot the sytem it says DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER. I am running an IDE Drive (western digital 20mb) I have tried doing this procedure with two different drives so I have a hard time beliving that its a problem with the drive. I am running Corsair Twin x Dual Channel DDR 500 memory (2x256) but my memory registers in the bios and so do my drives. I dont know what to do anymore so im just gonna keep trying and if i can't get it to work then Im sending the thing back. Like I said I would definately appreciate any help you could give me. I have a SATA drive also but I do not have it hooked up.

Do not know if your memory chips are an issue -- I assume you mean they are capable of 500mhz and aka PC4000. Maybe they are too fast? I know this board is fussy -- I bought a 256 mb Kingston KHX3500 Hyperx and tried to increase memory by adding anther 256 mb 3200 chip -- and it would not boot. So decided to run the two 3200 chips for 512mb until I can get a second Kingston.
You should load 32 bit Windows NOW until drivers are out (which may not be until retail release?). If that is what you are already doing -- try slower memory --- or even 1 chip at a time.
Be sure you are configured to boot off the proper IDE channel etc.
Do not be afraid to run the SATA -- I am running a Maxtor SATA 250 gig right now. I I must admit I started off on a 100g WD IDE and when that was running -- loaded the Sata dirver and Ghost -ed everything over to the SATA and it is working fine. I did have trouble installing straight to the SATA.
But you are starting with the IDE -- should be successful.
MY 2 best guesses are: (assuming you are running 32-bit)
1. MoBo dislikes your memory
2. your CMOS/ Bios setting are wrong and the system is trying not trying to boot off the installed drive.
If you are installing 64bit -- good luck -- I started this thread to hear from people who ARE successful getting the 64bit to run on this board -- yours is the first reply which tells me -- people are still waiting for drivers,
You should look elsewhere on the forum -- there IS MUCH info and other threads. like

You say you've managed to install Windows? To what degree? Has it been completely installed? Installing any version of Windows requires a few re-starts? How does the system cope with those when trying to continue with the setup after a re-boot?
Nevertheless, it sounds like a simple boot order problem to me. Try these basic things before anything else:
1) Make sure in your motherboard BIOS setup the HDD you want to boot from (e.g. the one Windows is or is going to be installed onto) is set to First Boot. e.g. HDD0
2) Make sure you haven't got a floppy disk or CD in any of their respective drives.
3) If you're not using them, disable any of the other onboard HD controllers you aren't using for now. e.g. the SATA controller etc etc.
4) Look through your manual/motherboard BIOS, and see if there is a hard drive controller boot order toggle. If there is, make sure the controller the hard disk in question is on, is set to First Boot priority. You indicated it was the standard IDE PATA right?
Try those things, post back with more information as I've requested and we'll go from there.
Cheers
Do what Spinners suggests. Check the BIOS to ensure that the hard drive boot order is set correctly. Try HDD-0 to begin with.
