I need to ask a photochop guru for a favor...

My oldest recently graduated 8th grade. I took a decent picture of all the graduates throwing their caps into the air. It's something I would like to keep forever and share with a few other parents but there is one small problem...

...the back of some curly haired woman's head in the foreground.

I can't seem to remove it and rebuild the obstructed kid's bodies in a suitable fashion.

I'm not ashamed to admit - it's beyond my skill set.

Anyone out there care to have pity on my pathetic soul and take a shot at it?

Thanks.

Slap up a copy of the picture, and I'm sure you'll have a slew of people trying their hand at it.

    Oh wow.. That's a toughie :)

Thats more than a toughie, you're asking the impossible. You can't remove something like that because the picture isn't taken with layers. You can remove it and fudge the underlying image with parts from elsewhere, if thats what you want it can be done...but what do you want more? A genuine pic of you and your friends on a happy day? Or a photochopped image thats got parts of it that are fake in order to remove some lady's head?

No, he's not asking the impossible. I've got a few thoughts brewing in my head about how I would go about fixing it up as per the request.

    ...of me and my friends?

    (chuckle)

Seeing as I have the original, I'm hoping to make one frameable so to answer to question yes, I'd rather that section were piecemealed together using parts of some of the other kid's bodies and have that head removed.

What I've been trying to do is something along these lines...

taking #1's body on the left, mirroring it and using it as the body for #1 on the right.

Then taking a portion of #2's (on the right) gown and filling it over the part obstructed by the head on the #2 left.

Visually it seems like it may work.. once again - that's where the lack of ability portion of the program comes in.

    (sigh)

With a bit of touchup to remove that blue shadow, it'll be perfect :)

    to whoever did it!

Since when do 8th graders get caps and gowns?

Am I the only one who thinks that's uncommon?

It is uncommon. But then again, it looks like a private school of the religious type... They do things diff'r'nt round thar! :)

    Zoinks!

Lawn, Media... my most sincere of thanks.

    They look great.

As for the caps and gowns... it IS a private school (Catholic) and for the 6k/yr I was paying he BETTER get a cap and gown.

Actually, most of the grade schools in Chicago do caps and gowns for 8th grade.

    Thanks again guys.

You finished in about half the time I did. I went at that thing for a while before I got the grass blended well. Not to mention the walls, various people's heads and hair, and the damn gowns with the pita color schemes. Just takes some practice and a boatload of patience =)

Umm...hour? 90 mins maybe? Decent bit of time...bout average for a good photochop project.

They're both outstanding and I appreciate both of them.

Yes, Lawn's grass is better but the two 'recreated' figures are cleaner on Media's.

Once again, many thanks to both of you.
