OK I'm gonna attach a couple of pics. These are from my road trip this week. Come home, upload pics to comp, can preview em fine but blow em up full size and this is the crap I get...Have had a similar problem in the past with a different camera. Is it battery related? Heat?

These pics are off my Canon A70 and a fresh reformat of the memory card.

The pics above are 2 of the 4 I took of my first ever wild grizzly "encounter" (I was 200 yards away in a car). Here is the best of a bad lot grrrrr

At first I was going to say it looked like a problem with the CCD...but the more I look at it, I think it is a problem with the media writes. If the preview looks good in the camera, the picture may actually still be good there, but the error may be occurring in the transfer, maybe a bad cable or a software glitch. Are you using custom software to transfer pics, or manually moving from the the camera to the hard drive?

Try opening a picture straight from the camera at the desktop level and see if it looks good there.

Then try taking the camera to the store where you bought it and see if they have a cable from a demo model they can plug into a computer there and see what happens if you transfer files. Or, take the memory card to a digital photomoart, plop it in a computer there and access the files. That will tell you whether the problem is on the original or in the copy to hard drive.

How are you transferring the files? Dexter gave great advice. Perhaps an investment in a card reader may also help.

Using a USB card reader to transfer the files, no intermediary software just straight into XP Pro. OK so maybe if I try using the firewire cable that came with the camera? I also have a different card reader, hold that thought.....YESSS GOOD CALL, the PC Card Adapter from my work laptop reads the photos just fine

DOH for me, I already deleted over a dozen photos last nite and moved most of the rest to computer in fubar'd form  Thanx, men.

Glad to hear it was something easy. Now let's see that bear picture again all cleaned up please! Where was it taken...? Given your location and what google told me about Folding Mountain Resort (Hinton, I've been there, about 12 years ago...), I'd guess near Jasper somewhere. Lots of nice backcountry camping up there, I used to do some travelling around there, Banff, and down in Waterton when I lived in Alberta.
