delete an entry in the "opens with" list

i need to delete an entry in the "Opens With" menu, a specific file setup program is taking priority over the correct setup program and i cant seem to get the opens with entry to go away, when i choose the correct setup prog it reverts to the 1 that dosnt work, ive tryed deleting the file extension from file types and rebuilding it but xp remembers the opens with list and that damn wrong prog is there taking priority once again

    Two ways:

    - one is with Regedit. If you know how to use Regedit, find:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts


    Look for the extension key you wish to edit. Find the value you don't want, and delete it.

    ***DISCLAIMER*** Using Regedit without adequate knowledge can seriously foul up your computer. Proceed with caution.


    - Second is some software I found googling for an easier way:

    (I have not tested this, but it appears to be simply an interface to do the above without going into Regedit.)

    Man oh Man, with all you guys are teaching me with this regedit command, my boss better not fire me...buhwahahahahaahaaaaaaaaaa
