Star Wars Galaxies Free Trial

Fileplanet is giving away a free 14 day trial of Star Wars Galaxies. Just thought someone might be interested in it.

I may try it out just to see if I can suffer through it because Jump to lightspeed makes me want to play. Now if they'd just release that as a combat only game *cough* Tie Fighter 2 *cough*, rather than some mmorpg, I'd be a happy boy.

14 days is the absolute maximum anyone should play this game for :)

Yeah, sounds about right after I played the Beta. I only gave it one try, but I think it took 14 days to cross the friggin planet to get the macrobinoculars.... Why couldn't that stupid woman get them herself?

man i remember Tie Fighter 2 Cd-Rom edition, with the extra expansion packs all rolled into one. i loved that game. i loved being rated triple ace. i loved that level where they sent like 30 squadrons of gunships at you when you were in a tie bomber, and you got to shoot the crap out of them.

    *swoon*

that said, ima go ahead and give galaxies a try because after all, why not, its just a short download away

Ugh, that was a waste of an hour. I think It COULD be fun, but the interface blows, and I have no idea WTF is going on!! And then I take this quest to shoot some spider nest or whatever to pieces, and some AHOLE has his house built on it. I CAN'T COMPLETE THE QUEST!!!

As for Tie fighter , I think I need to buy me an old ass system and try and play it. I wonder if that old Lappy can play it.......

MUAHAHAHAAHAHAHA. My laptop plays it without any speed issues, just some slight screen problems (It plays it in too small a window). I didn't even have to mess with the memory settings!!! I'll try a boot disk tomorrow to see if I can get it to run in 640x480 high res fullscreen glory!!!

    Tie Fighter + Dosbox.

I'll leave you folks to assemble the solution to the equation.

=Damn CDROM version making me do extra work. I'll have to mess with that setup later and get the d:\ drive mounted right, stupid extra tags.

edit// After reading the readme, this won't work right on my lappy because it's too slow (I tried and realized something was up). It'll have to be done on one of my desktops.

Frogive me father, for I have sinned. I'm starting to enjoy Galaxies. Much better this time around for n00bs, not as frustrating, and the community is pretty good, everyone helps out like crazy. Only problem is that you have to work in groups till you get uber strong, kind of frustrating for someone without much time to play.

That is absolutely hilarious man. I got a good laugh out of that.

Is Galaxies not the highly expensive and highly addictive SW Game? I was thinking about giving it a whirl but decided against the 15 bucks a month or whatever it costs. Besides I waste enough time playing video games. Thanks for the heads up though :).

Well I liked it. The only reason I quit playing was because I was broke. I'll probably pick it up again sometime.

I was pretty fortunate when I was playing, since a friend of mine was in the beta and he showed me the ropes. I got in with his friends he had met during the beta, and we were all on the Bria server, the original beta server. I think that made the difference, in that everyone was a little more mature and everyone knew how to help.

The player based economy was great. No other game has come close to working it as well, IMO. The player cities were neat too. We had our own 'hood. We shot rebels that strayed into it. Grand fun. :D
